How would the proposed Humboldt offshore wind project affect recreation in Wigi/Humboldt Bay?

Increased vessel traffic and the towing of the offshore wind turbines in and out of Wigi (1), aka Humboldt Bay, associated with proposed Humboldt Bay Offshore Wind Heavy Lift Marine Terminal Project (2) on the Samoa Peninsula of Wigi/Humboldt Bay would likely conflict with some recreation in Humboldt Bay. At the same time, the Humboldt Harbor, Conservation & Recreation District (Harbor District)’s Federal INFRA grant (3) included  $1.2 million for public recreation access (fishing pier, kayak launch, or other) and $1.1 million for a paved multipurpose trail adjacent to the site which would increase access and opportunities. The Harbor District also intends to update its Harbor Safety Plan (4) to better plan for conflicts between offshore wind and recreationists in the future.
